Messy Boy

My sweet baby feeding himself yogurt using a spoon for the first time. He was so cute and so proud of himself that I couldn't help but break out my camera to capture this messy little moment in life! His big blue eyes and sweet smile melt my heart every time I see them and his little baby giggle makes my heart burst every time I hear it! God stopped me in this moment and helped me look passed the mommy-induced stress of allowing my baby to create such a mess in my actually-clean-for-once kitchen as he took another step in his journey to independence. He slowed me down and gave me the opportunity to really appreciate the beauty in the mess of little moments like this that add up to make a beautiful life. Sometimes it's so easy for me to get lost in the mess, feeling like all I do is clean and fix and clean some more...but when I slow down enough to look around, I can't help but be so thankful for my messy life made up of messy boys, messy plans, a messy house, and messy hands. All those messy things mean I have two beautiful boys that teach me more about God's love than I ever thought possible, and those messy plans mean I have the luxury to think beyond just surviving and providing basic needs, and that messy house means I have a home and beautiful souls to share this life with, and those messy hands mean I have hands to hold and care for and love.

We all have our messes...right now my messes are filled with toys, dirt, rocks, and in this case, yogurt. Maybe your messes are filled with wedding plans, or family drama, or laundry, or work projects, but don't get lost in the mess of this life...find the beauty in it...God is in the messy moments waiting to you to see that He's trying to connect with you and love you in the mess.

Love always,
